Bonde Månsson Kryp

<p>In a document dated March 14, 1586, it says that – our ancestor – Bonde Månsson Kryp, farmer in Karsbo from around 1569, got paid for “broadcloth and money.” He had served in Narva – there was a battle in Narva in 1581 – and was awarded for his service (1583 to 1585) by tax reduction. This was modus operandi for those married man who served in the army in the late 16th century. The soldiers received weapons from the state, but after the service has ended they had to return them. Bonde Månsson Kryp returned home and continued to cultivate the farm in Karsbo, at least, until 1591. I haven’t been able to confirm whether he fought at the battle of Narva 1581 or not. It’s possible to interpret the document in different ways.
